Finding good and truthful vitamin information is more of a challenge than one would imagine in this day of computer and internet information technology. Follow this sencario. Enter in "G" popular search engine, VITAMINS. In just .70 of a second, out pops a number of websites found with this term, 2.9 Trillion. (About 20 years ago it ws only 17 million) Then scroll to the last page of offered websites. First there are just 20 pages with about 10 websites listed on each page. This search engine has eliminated some similar websites to the 199 ones listed. 199 out of 2.9 trillion is not very many, like a grain of sand in a full bucket. Most people rarely go past the first 4 pages. that would mean their vitamin fact decisions would be made from about 40 websites.
How does this search engine determine which vitamin websites get listed on the first pages? In the past, it was number of searches that had the most weight, but now it is mainly which websites get the most hits to advertisments on the website pages. Plus some impact from clever word usage for each topic, which mainly the big website IT professionals understand. Then, there are some companies that simple pay for top pages exposure.
FYI: Some years ago when this author was beginning research, the early days of the internet, search engines listed hundreds of pages of found websites. It was often at this deep depth that many of the small studies yielded novel concepts covered on this website. Some of which are unique to this website and rarely covered anywhere else.

It presents how a nutrient may have both positive actions for one function and potentially negative from same function on another area. Vitamin D directs bone cells to produce Osteocalcin. Vitamin K carboxylates osteocalcin into the bone mineralization form. The Osteocalcin forms also participate in normal prostate cell growth. The two forms of osteocalcin, unOC for uncarboxylated osteocalcin, and cOC for vitamin K carboxylated osteocalcin, appear to have opposite and balancing effects on prostate cancer growth. ref (2016) The unOC form inhibits while the cOC form stimulates prostate cancer cell growth individually in a test tube study. The trick may be to get just the right amount of both vitamins D & K so a balance is maintained between unOC and cOC to build healthy bones, control prostate cell growth, and balance blood sugar, another function for osteocalcin."
For added clarification from another direction, here is copy from another article with information on how osteocalcin forms impact testosterone. "The bone connected hormone, Osteocalcin, produced by vitamin D acting on bone building cells, works to increase testosterone and is a factor in male infertility. Osteocalcin has two forms in the body. One as it is produced by bone building cells, called undercarboxylated osteocalcin (uOC), and the other as the vitamin K2 converted form called gamma-carboxylated osteocalcin (cOC). The uOC form acts on the pancreas-bone-testis axis by attaching to Leydig cells of the testis for testosterone biosynthesis. The uOC also works on pancreatic beta cells and muscle cells to control glucose insulin regulation. Of critical importance here is the newly discovered facts that, in test tube study, uOC stops prostate cancer cell growth while cOC speeds up cancer cell growth."
There is obviously a great need for vitamin K2 in bone building, but just as important, too much vitamin K2 could upset the balance between cOC and uOC needed for not only blood sugar regulation and balance, but also for prostate cancer oontrol.
